TMS320F2812: Will this isolated emulator work with the latest CCS IDE to develop software for the TMS320F2812

Part Number: TMS320F2812

Hi team,

http://www.spectrumdigital.com/xds220-iso-usb-ethernet-jtag-emulator/

My customer wants to use this new part and needs an isolated emulator. Do you think this one will be sufficient for the task above or do you have any other recommendations?

Thanks,

Lauren

  • Lauren,

This will work with the F2812 for isolated emulation.  The other (known) supported option would be to add a stand alone isolator from Blackhawk to a standard XDS110 or XDS200 from either Spectrum or Blackhawk.  I'm not sure if Spectrum sells a standalone isolator.

    Best regards,

    Matthew

  • Great thanks matthew! Do you have any feedback on which one would be better?

  • Lauren,

I think either path has its advantages, the Spectrum Digital is compelling since it is all in one(less to keep up with or lose) and has ethernet connectivity(for more remote debug potential).  The XDS2xx class of emulators is faster in terms of code download than the less expensive XDS110 class

The Blackhawk soln using an adapter could be less expensive depending on what base emulator the customer chooses(or if they already had non-isolated emulators in house).

As I mentioned the adapters are a small IC board, and can be challenging to keep up with in a larger lab environment, not a technical reason just one from experience.

Either solution will work with our device, so really comes down to cost/preference.  Just casually looking at  price the SD XDS220 with eNET seems compelling if that would be of use to the customer.  Else a USB200 + ISO from Blackhawk would be slightly cheaper.

    Best,

    Matthew
