TMS320F28023: TMS320F28023PTT fail on aging test

Part Number: TMS320F28023

Hello Sir,

One of my solar inverter customers is using TMS320F28023PTT.  When my customer did aging test, after 5mins to 20mins, there is no PWM output and the IO output only shows in high voltage level or only shows in low voltage level. TMS320F28023PTT looks like being locked.

Could you give us some advices on this issue?

Best regards,

wenting

  • Wenting,

Has the customer tried to access the device via JTAG after a power cycle/XRSn after test?  Can it be connected or not?

I would see if there is another GPIO that could be used as a monitor during the aging test vs a PWM output.  Reason is that if there is another component that fails(that is part of the control loop) during the aging, it could effect the MCU.

A common case in power control systems is if the comparator detects and over/under voltage is to trip the PWMs to drive the FETs off until the issue is gone.  If something has caused this condition in failing then the GPIOs will maintain this state.

If we use another GPIO that is periodically called to toggle it would tell us if the MCU is still running or not.

    Best,

    Matthew
