I have checked the schematic of LAUNCHXL-F28379D, just like below.

But incremental encoder has 14 lines just like below. How to make connection?

can I only connect the V+ V- A+ B+ Z+? totally 5 lines to LAUNCHXL-F28379D？

Hi,

You've to refer to the encoder specification for exact details.

From the table above it seems like the A, B, Z signals are available as +/- levels. Are these meant for RS485 interface? If so, you may have to use a transceiver for +/- signals. The +/- signals would go to the transceiver and output will be a single ended signal that can be connected to the MCU as QEPA/QEPB/QEPI inputs.

You mean that if the signal from encoder is differential signal, I will have to use a transceiver to transfer the +/-signals to single ended signal , but can not only use the + signals?right ?

Hi,

Yes, It seems like the inputs from the encoder are differential. If so, you cannot directly connect them to the MCU.

Hi,

Yes, you can refer to some of the reference designs where the interface signals are received using transceivers, there are examples for both absolute encoder and resolver as well. Find the schematics in this directory, and refer to sub-folders listed below.
