Recommendation for MCU

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320F28379D, LAUNCHXL-F28379D, TMDSCNCD28379D, TMDSDOCK28379D

HI TI expert

The TMS320F28379D I use does not have the ADC for Negative portion of the signals. Can you recommend any launchpad product of similar dimension ( can be larger - but not too much or smaller than TMS320F28379D ) that has ADC for negative portion also ?

Best regards,

Thomas

  • Hi Thomas,

The F28379D has 16-bit differential ADC inputs if that is what you're asking about. I recommend looking at the device datasheet and Reference Manual for more details on the functionality if needed.

The LAUNCHXL-F28379D has some of the ADCD inputs routed for differential input. Also a differential amplifier (U1) on board for ADCIND4 AND ADCIND5 inputs to SMA connector pads.

  • Hi Kevin

Thank you very much for your response. Yes, I can use the differential ADCs. However, in that case, I need 6 pairs of them on one board (6 separate signals). Does LAUNCHXL-F28379D has the provision ? If not, can you recommend me some other launchpad of TI that has that provision.
Alternatively, I can use a differential OpAmp outside and put an offset - however, that'll take up a large portion of my PCB and also requires additional DSP programming. That's why I'm looking for a module that has 6 pairs of differential ADCs / adc with negative signal sensing capability.

    Best regards,

    Thomas

  • Hi Thomas,

The LAUNCHXL-F28379D circuitry I showed has 6 signals (3 differential pairs). One of the pairs goes to the differential Amp and SMA connectors. This is the only C2000 LaunchPad that has differential ADC capability.

You can take a look at the TMDSCNCD28379D ControlCard + base board (see TMDSDOCK28379D). Most, if not all, of the ADC signals are routed differentially, however no external amplifier circuitry is included on the board.
