TMS320LF2407A: Debug suggestion

Part Number: TMS320LF2407A

Hi Champs,

I am supporting my customer to deal with their product failure case. Recently they found the following failures when testing their F2407 board after production.

1. The chip heats up. After the power is off, the resistance between 3.3V and GND on the board is less than 100 ohms, and the normal product is 1.3K to 1.4K;

2. The power-on reset cannot work normally, and the reset button needs to be manually pressed to normal. The output waveform of the reset circuit is the same as the normal product;

3. It does not work at all after power-on, but the program can be programmed and the test clock signal is also normal.

Access to F2407 techinical material is pretty limited. Could you kindly suggest how to continue the debug?

Regards,

Brian

  • Brian,

                  I don’t believe this is a problem with the LF2407A. It has to be something else in the board.

    1. How long has this design been in production?
    2. In how many boards is this problem seen?
    3. If you replace a defective device by a fresh device, does the problem go away?
    4. Have you checked the current consumption of a good board compared to a bad board? Do this without the LF2407A unit being soldered.

    3. It does not work at all after power-on, but the program can be programmed and the test clock signal is also normal.

    Is this on a board that heats up?
