TMS320F280049: Need more details on how our device's LIN peripheral detect a bit error

Part Number: TMS320F280049

Hi expert,

My customer meet bit error in LIN slave (F280049) during power supply crank test. (I can provide details through email). They'd like our support on more details regarding how do we detect a bit error in LIN module.

More detials will be put in private email.

Thanks

Sheldon

  • Hi Sheldon,

I will go through your email and respond based on the details sent. At high level here is the information on "Bit Error"

"A bit error (BE) is detected at the bit time when the bit value that is monitored is different from the bit value that is sent. A bit error is indicated by the BE flag in SCIFLR. After signaling a BE, the transmission is aborted no later than the next byte. The bit monitor ensures that the transmitted bit in LINTX is the correct value on the LIN bus by reading back on the LINRX pin as shown in Figure 27-21."

Please refer TRM for more details.

  • Hi Nirav,

    Thanks.

While we are still waiting for the detailed explanation here.

    Such like:

How Biterror is detected in circuit level

When does biterror being detected when signal goes wrong

When LIN is aborted after biterror happens

My customer would like to have these information to explanation what they have seen in tests (waveform). This is a required test for their automotive product using F280049.

  • Hi Sheldon,

    Answers to your questions:

How Biterror is detected in circuit level

    - When F280049 is acting as Slave and responding to Master on LIN bus, LIN module on F280049 monitors the LINTX data through LINRX pin, if there is a mismatch in the data Bit Error is flagged. For eg. if the LIN bus is shorted to GND, whatever data slave transmits on LINTX will not match with the LINRX data (think of it is as LINRX is a loopback to the slave) and it will generate Bit error.

When does biterror being detected when signal goes wrong

    - Bit error is generated as soon as their is mismatch in the data between LINRX and LINTX.

When LIN is aborted after biterror happens

    - Transmission will be aborted no later than the next byte.
