My customer is asking regarding CMPSS comparator resolution

TMS320F280049 Data Manual says:

When the external pin (0-VDDA volts) drives the comparator negative input, how much resolution can be achieved ?

Is it 12-bit resolution since 12bit-DAC is integrated as internal programable reference ?

Hi Saito,

Yes, that is correct. The highest resolution will be 12-bits if the compdac is used as the negative reference.

Hi Frank,

Please let me confirm your answer.
The question is in case of external pin used, instead of DAC12.

Will the maximum resolution be 12-bit as well if the negative pin (CMPx_LN / CMPx_HN) is used as the negative reference. instead of DAC12 ?

Hi Koichi,

If you use external sources for both the positive and negative inputs, the resolution is determined by the sources.
