TMS320F28388D: EnDat/Biss and FSI simultanious

Hello everyone,

I am working myself through your FSI-Dokcumantation.

I read, that the FSI is using the CLB.
SInce we are already using the Biss/Endat-Library from the Position-Manger, which also uses the CLB in some way, I am wondering if it's possible to use those at the same time?

Is it possible or am I only able to use one of them?

How many tiles is the BISS/ENDAT library using? Which CLB instances are being used?

Why do you need CLB+FSI? Are you doing a multi-receiver daisy chain connection?

Regarding the tiles, I have to look it up.
Because we implemented EnDAT/BiSS more than 12months ago. And I can't remember what tiles are.

Yes we want to daisy chain multiple devices (up to 4 Slaves). Just like TI suggests in this setup.

Regarding the tiles of the CLB. I can't be sure many are used, because we are using the PM_library for BiSS and EnDat from TI.

I can't find the information about the used CLB tiles inside the documentation of those libraries.

But I found something in the e2e forum:

There someone says:
TI library consumes 3 tiles for EnDat and 2 tiles for BiSS-C and 1 for T-format

We are communicating with one EnDat or BiSS Encoder per MCU. So each MCU (FSI-Master and FSI-Slave) are connected to one absolut encoder using the PM_Libraries.

Marcel,

So you will need ONE CLB per FSI-RX FSI-TX module to control the TDM PATHs. This is only in the secondary devices. Not the main device in the daisy chain.

The CLB module used for the TDM PATH control, is CLB5 and CLB6 depending on whether you are using FSI TXA or FSI TXB module.

So you will need to make sure the CLB OUT25 (which is the duplicated CLB OUT1) is available on CLB5 and CLB6 and the FSI TXA or FSI TXB are available. You can have the CLB5, CLB6 used for other purposes BUT YOU NEED TO have CLB OUT1 free to implement your logic.

Also any other logic units you need to implement the FSI_TDM logic. You will need a timer and some FSMs to generate the STRETHCED pulse for the FSI TDM signal.

Also if you are not sure which CLB TILEs are available to you, you can always run your code and look in the Debug registers view in CCS and see which CLBs are used/configured by looking at their register configurations and seeing which ones are enabled.

Hello Nima,

I first have to take a deeper look into the CLB and the used tiles for the BiSS and EnDat-Lib.
But what I saw with CCS, that there are only CLB1 to4 Registers inside the TMS320F28388D.

So there are is no CLB5 or 6, which I need if I understood you correctly.

There is CLB 5-6. The register view is missing those. They were hidden in the older versions of CCS. In the new versions they will be there.

I believe I have another E2E post showing how you can add them.

As far as your SW you can use them without any limitations.
