TMS320F280041C: XDS debug probe can't access device register Error -2131 @ 0x0

Part Number: TMS320F280041C

Hello!

Yesterday I opened a wrong project and went in flash debug. CCS did go in debug and run the SW. A motor obviously did not spin and I started to step thru the code and realized I was in a wrong project. Both projects are in the same workspace and next to each other. Wrong project has 64-pin micro and the right project has 100-pin the same micro. Pins are configure differently and unintended outputs could create a signal conflict. I got out of debug session, switched to the correct project, and tried to go in debug. I got error window saying that XDS110 can't access register... Error -2131 @ 0x0. What does this error mean? Could potential signal conflicts permanently damage the micro or they just locking the micro from being reset? Our custom board has all JTAG pins connected. How do I change interface to JTAG to try? Any other advice on what to do?
