TMS320F2812: eCAN to UART

Hi all,

I am using TMS320F2812 for one of my applications and it requires 3 UART interface to external sensors. The device is already having 2 SCIs which can be converted to UART. My doubt is whether the eCAN peripheral in the device can be converted to UART. I am operating with 8 bit word with parity, start and stop bits.

Hi Karthik,

CAN frame is very much different with UART frame and TMS320F2812 does not have the resources to convert the eCAN data into UART format. Moreover, CAN protocol is way more complex than UART. There probably are CAN to UART converters supplied by third parties to do this conversion for you.
