TMS320F2806: Output states (GPIO, PWM) during programming

Hi there,

I was wondering whether the output of a microcontroller can toggle during a programming procedure?! In paticular we are currently using a TMS320F2806 and we think about moving forward to the TMS320F280041. Can I assume that during programming all GPIOs are high Z and that all PWM outputs remain 0?

During flashing the device goes through a reset so the GPIOs should all be in GPIO mode and go to input mode. Then as soon as the code begins to run the GPIOs get configured to their peripheral mode and change to their corresponding output state.

Hi Nima,

thanks for your reply. Doesn't the reset happen AFTER the programming? or is the programming flow more like:
Reset
Bring device in defined state (as you described)
program Flash
Reset
new program configures I/Os

I believe it is as you mentioned. I have not looked at the F2806 device in a couple of years. I can check this if you want.

From my experience with other micros, JTAG and SBW, etc... ususally pulls the reset line low to keep the device in reset while the programming is initiated.
