LAUNCHXL-F28027F: Launchxl-f28027F with boostxl drv8305

Part Number: LAUNCHXL-F28027F
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MOTORWARE, DRV8305, TMS320F28027F

I am using motorware lab 02b to build project and then using the output file and renaming it to appProgram in Universal GUI folder.

The target is initialized correctly but when I tick the enable system checkbox it automatically disables it. What can be cause of this?

  • Try to run the lab02b within CCS first, and then use the target file (.out) for GUI if the lab02 works well in CCS. If not, you need to check if there is any fault like over-current, over/under voltage, or the connection between launchxl and boostxl.

  • When I try to run it in CCS, build is done but when I enter debug mode, when I change GmotorVars enable and identify motor to 1 it returns to 0 instantly.

How do I know if DRV8305 is working fine??

When I manually give PPWM signal to the DRV8305 from TMS320F28027F, I can see the pulses at pins 2,3,4,5,6,7 at DRV8305 but don't see any output at GHA SHA GLA SLA pins of DRV8305.

  • You might take a look at the datasheet of the drv8305, check the state of the EN_GATE, nFAULT, and PWGRD. Please make sure that the power supply of the DRV is good.

  • Just wanted to check in and see if there is any update from your side, I haven’t heard from you for two weeks, so I’m assuming you were able to resolve your issue. Please let me know if you have any questions. We would like to close this thread if no any further questions. Thanks.
