TMS320F28034: what's the accuracy of internal oscillator after compensation?

Part Number: TMS320F28034

Hi,

in our datasheet we specify the accuracy of the internal oscillator to be ±3%, but we also mentioned that we could achieve higher accuracy by implementing compensation.

I would like to know what's the accuracy we could get after compensation?

Do you know any customers using internal oscillator in their real project?

  • Howard,

The Zero-Pin Oscillator Frequency Movement With Temperature table in the datasheet shows that the accuracy is expected to be wider than +/-3%.  Yes, there are many customers that use the internal oscillator in systems with loose clock accuracy requirements.

We are unfortunately not able to guarantee the level of performance improvement after compensation due to limitations in the manufacturing environment.

During the early lifecycle of the device, the datasheet suggested that +/-1% accuracy should be possible with compensation based on bench characterization.  However, without a direct way to comprehensively verify this performance across operating conditions for all devices, the reference to +/-1% accuracy was removed in order to dissuade customers from thinking that such performance is guaranteed.
