I'm wanting to use one of the TI Quick Start Kits to evaluate InstaSPIN for my application. The application is to open a door. The door is driven by a motor and gear train. From the time the motor controller gets an 'open' signal from the time the door is completely open must take no longer than 30ms. I've already selected a motor and appropriate gear ratio that would provide enough power to open the door in this time frame. I've watched the TI training videos on motor control and InstaSPIN looks very promising to drive my selected motor. What I am unsure about is time delay associated with InstaSPIN. Particularly there is an algorithm within InstaSPIN-FOC called "Auto Starter". From my understanding, this gets the motor turning before the FAST observer can take over. That process sounds very slow to me. I can't seem to find any information on how long Auto Starter runs. Is it possible to estimate how long it would take Auto Starter to speed the motor up enough for FAST to take over? If it turns out to be to slow, is it possible to use a motor equipped with Hall effect sensors to achieve faster start up times?
