TMS320F28377D: P2P alternative with CAN FD

Hi,

Because the TMS320F28377 (377Pin BGA) doesnt support CAN FD, our customer is looking for a p2p and code compatible alternative. Does the TMS320F28388 fulfill these requirements? If not, can you please suggest a part that can be interchanged with the least amount of effort?

Gokhan,

Yes, those 2 devices are pin-compatible. Be aware that 28388 has additional peripherals (MCAN and other peripherals connected to M4). But rest of the pins (Power, GND, Analog, clocks, GPIO functions) are compatible between these 2 devices.

Sorry I missed addressing the code compatibility part. They are code-compatible for the most part, except for the part that addresses the usage of the M4 core. For any peripheral that exists on both devices (and connected to the 28x CPU), it is completely code-compatible. However, some re-assignments need to be done for peripherals/GPIO pins if they are to be used with the M4 core. These are fairly trivial and are easily handled with Driverlib.

Also no VREG on 28388 for the respective 2837x parts which supported it.
