C2000 renewable energy developer's kit

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CCSTUDIO

I'm using the kit above as my final year project, and I'm experiencing some problems with the exercise given in the Renewable.pdf.

Firstly everything in Renewable.pdf is  in the environment of CCStudio v3.3, and i'm using CCS v4; the control card assumed is TMS320F2803*,

while in actuality F2808 controlCard is provided with the kit.

My questions are as follows:

What build configuration should i select as active, F2803*RAM or F280*RAM? what about configurations ending with .flash, what's the difference?

As mentioned in the file, more advanced control can be implemented with this kit, for example, MPPT algorithm, I wonder if you can provided any places where I can find useful coding information about this?

In step23, when it says ''set start = 1.'', does it mean I can change the value in the watch window, will it immediately affect the running of the code, or should i change the value in the main.c file? also my resulting graphs definitely don't look like the ones in the file...

Thank you for your time!

  • Siming,

The Renewable kit was originally launched with F2808 however F28035 was added to the kit at the later stage, so depending on the time you bought this kit you would have got both or only the f2808 control card.

The difference between the F2803x Ram and F2803x Flash is that the code i.e. the program resides completely in RAM in the RAM configuration, this is easy while debugging as you do not have to flash the device every time you are debugging. Flashing would take some additional time while debugging.

The start=1, enables the switching for the power stages and also sets the reference for the power stages, you can have a closer look at the code to study more.

The code for this kit is supported using CCSv3.3, unfortunately it's hard to tell where the problem is if the setup is different.

I would recommend having a close look at the kit and making engineering decision whether the kit would suit your project,

  • thank you for your reply, I have other issues now, hope you can help me?

I want to do the battery charging with the board, will a lead-acid rechargeable battery 12V, 1.2Ah do the job??

the ac line sensing function, will it work with low voltages, not 110/220V high?

Also, when i try connecting a battery, lamp2, which is the buck load, will always light up, no matter SW3 is turned off or on, is this right?

  • siming,

the ac line sensing has been tested on our end with 100/220V high, if it would for a voltage you want to feed in is a test you would have to do.

12V, 1.2amps is withing the voltage and current rating (note you would have to remove the lamp for any Vdc over 6V  on buck output)

Please look at the schematics, as is clear from the schematic there is nothing disconnecting the lamp . SW3 according to the users guide is never used and should never be used.

Please look at the schematics, the documents closely and make a decision.
