Hello Team,

My Customer usedLAUNCHXL-F280049C board to develop a prototype. The prototype is working and the code is fully debugged at this point and they are now close to ordering a custom board based on the F280049C. They want to eliminate the MSP432E401YTPDT from the design so they will need a FLASH programmer. They have an older Signum Systems JTAG JET-TMS that they have used for other TI DSP projects, can they use this programmer, and if not what is the most economical programmer you recommend, they don't need debug capability, just straight programming capability as they can always debug using the launchpad if necessary.

Signum JTAG JET Flasher does not support F28004x.

I would suggest XDS200 https://www.ti.com/tool/TMDSEMU200-U - It balances the performance and price.

They can use TI Uniflash standalone flash programmer with XDS200.

Thank you for this response, can my customer approach of redirecting the cJTAG signals from the Launchpad development board to the new custom board, will work?

I'm glad to see you are removing the MSP432, this is an unnecessary board cost for a production board.

To answer your first question the most economical cJTAG programmer is TMDSEMU110-U.

To answer your second question Yes, you can jump the cJTAG wires from a F280049C LaunchPad and this is cheaper. We don't document it as such, and you will need to ensure that the cJTAG signal wires don't get too long, I remember an old recommendation of around 7 inches, but haven't confirmed myself.

We haven't characterized using the LaunchPad this way, and it is a custom modification, so we won't guarantee this will work at all operating conditions, but again as I stated above I believe you shouldn't have issues with this approach.
