TMS320F28388S: TMS320F28388S EMIF1 asynchronous memory CS0n

Part Number: TMS320F28388S

Hi,

I have a question about the EMIF1.

In the datasheet, it states that the CS for EMIF1 for asynchronous memory is EMIF_CS[4:2].

when I looked on the memory map of the CS I saw the following note:

"Dual Map - When EMIF1 CS0n is mapped at address 0x2x_xxxx, EMIF1 CS2n is only available from 0x10_0000 to 0x1F_FFFF (1M x
16)."

I looked in the TRM if there is anything to support this note. but found nothing. Can I use the CS0n for asynchronous memory?

I want to use the CS0 because I actually need two CS with 1Mx16 size.

Thanks,

Tal

  • Hi Tal,

CS0 is used for SDRAM interface and what this note means is that CS0 is double mapped and uses some of the CS2 space as CS0 but not other way. CS2 space is not double mapped so it's only available on the address given in datasheet.

I want to use the CS0 because I actually need two CS with 1Mx16 size.

I am not clear on this requirement. You should be able to use CS2 for this (it has 2M x 16 space)  and do not enable dual map feature of CS0 (by default it is disable - refer section "Table 3-230. MEMMAPTYPE Register Field Descriptions" in device TRM).
