Hello,

We have a drive side issue and we have been asked by TI team to test the SPI communication from DRV8301-69M-KIT when MOSFETs and motor are disconnected from the board.

In order to capture the spi communication waveform, we put the drv setup function(HAL_setupDrvSpi()) inside the forever loop so that we can write the data into drv continuously. When we read the control registers from the watch window few of the variables are updated properly and some are not .Sometimes the properly updated variables change to some other default values.

what causes the drv to behave like this?

You might try to use a lower frequency SPI clock and lower SPI baud rate.

We observed that DeviceID from the DRV8301 status register is [0].

1.What is this DeviceID.

2.What should be the default DeviceID.

It's 0 by default. You might refer to the DRV8301 datasheet that has a detailed description of the default value of the control/status registers.

You might try to write a value to the related register, and then read back it to see if the writing and reading values are the same.

when the DeviceID is [1] we able to see the changes that we have done, but when the deviceID is [0] we get only the default value as mentioned in the datasheet.

Is there any possible way to change from deviceID[0] to deviceID[1].

It's read-only. You might try to change the control register. Please take a look at the DRV8301 datasheet to find the details about its registers.
