Hello, I am working on the BSL and need to calculate the CRC to be able to send my application to the target through the boot loader. I found a tool named as crcgen430 in the MSPboot folder that calculates the CRC and appends the result to the input file. But the tool is not working and immediately terminates after it's execution!

Any help?

TI BSL (PC / micro side) is open source (slau319), and you can find there anything related to BSL.

I read the whole document, but i need a tool that calculates the CRC. Is it available ?

You may have read a whole document but missed your real objective. Which MSP device (i.e., TI part number of the uC?) are you working on? What is the host that you try to send BSL from? (i.e., what kind of PC, another uC, or what?)

I don't need documents, i need an application that generates CRC from an input file. I am using MSP430FR6989 target microcontroller, and the host is laptop.

MSP430FR6989 has existing BSL ROM that come with the chip. You can use it without writing any code.
If the host laptop uses Windows, TI has an Application Program under Windows called BSL Scriptor. And you do not need to write any code either.

Does the BSL scriptor need additional hardware ?

micro / PC UART level shifter like max232, or USB bridge chip like pl2303hxd

For BSL hardware can be used also LP (slaa535)
