Hi TI experts,

I can use MSPM0 Bootloader GUI to update launchpad board.

Is this LP-MSPM0G3507 board bootloader by factory made?

If I buy MSPM0GXXXX(only IC), is there still a bootloader?

Hi Nian,

Yes, there is a bootloader in ROM which is provided by TI in factory production. And customer can use the default ROM bsl if only buy the IC chip.

Meanwhile, if you want to use your own bootloader, you can use the secondary bsl in flash, the details please refer to TRM and SDK code example.

Could I config the other UART/I2C pin (not bsl default pin) when I using the secondary bsl?

Hi Nian,

Sure, it is configurable in secondary bsl.

Also, it can be confiured via NONMAIN Flash for the default bsl provided by TI.

Hi Sal,

The example of secondary bsl has write BCR and BSL.

How to use it to avoid the MCU being locked?

Because I had a bad experience which the MCU was locked up when I reconfigured and programmed it.

BTW, where can I get the information like the one you showed me? like a Technical Reference Manual?

Only change this will not lock the MCU. Please refer to TRM chapter: The debug subsystem (DEBUGSS). (chapter 20 in L)

It is on TRM, chapter - The device architecture. (chapter1.4 in L)

The previous image is the screenshot of L series, but you can take it as reference, and then when G series released in ti.com, you can refer to it. (As for this two parts, L and G is similar.)

Hi Sal,

Sorry that one more question.

The function "DL_SYSCTL_resetDevice(DL_SYSCTL_RESET_BOOTLOADER_ENTRY);" from bsl_software_invoke example.

This also requires a hardware invoke (push S1) when software back to bootloader.

If without the hardware invoke, the MCU will continue to application after reset.

There is the BSL configuration in SYSCFG.

If I disable it, is it possible ignore the hardware invoke? just software invoke.

Hi Nian,

It will means that every time you enter the boot code, you will execute the bsl code.

However, everytime you power the device, it will run the boot code automatically.

Yes, you are correct, The device will ignore hardware invoke and only software invoke remained.
