MSP-GANG: Is there a facility to check software such as SUM codes?

Hi All,

The MSP430FR2032IG48R or MSP430FR5859IDAR is written using MSP-GANG.
Normally, SUM codes are used to check the writing software, but when using this programmer, SUM is not displayed, so the CRC code displayed in the app is checked.
However, it was observed that the code changes depending on the version of the app, even though the same writing software is used.
The versions of the apps compared are ver. 1.03.01 and ver. 1.03.08.
Do you know about the cause?
Also, what other checking functions, such as SUM, are available?

A CRC is a checksum, so I am not sure what you are asking.

As far as a difference between "1.03.01" and "1.03.08" what is this referring to?

Any number of things can change the check sum between to builds on the same software including some standard C macros like _DATE_ and _TIME_ which will change each build.

Hi Keith,

CRC codes are checked, but different versions of MSP-GANG-SOFTWARE seem to produce different CRC codes, even though they are the same write programme.
Please explain the reason.
Is the only solution to this problem to be the same version?

Hi Ito,

I'm checking into the CRC calculation now, is it throwing a CRC error from the MSP-Gang because of this or are you checking against your own system.

Hi All,

My customer only check the "image CRC" in the picture above.
We do not check it against our own system.
The "image CRC" varies between different versions of the application, despite the SW to be written being the same.

Hi Ito,

The version of the software does have an impact on the CRC calculation, the same version of the MSP-GANG and the same code will produce the same CRC, but update either will update your CRC.
