Hi,
If u r a begginer then it is better to purchase a MSP430 eZ430-RF2500 module from ur local Texas Instruments sales office for better begining .
http://focus.ti.com/mcu/docs/mcugeneralcontent.tsp?sectionId=99&tabId=1518 search this site for ur requirement tools.

As per my knowledge, you wont find TI microcontroller chips in DIP package but you can always use IC sockets.

Kshatriya
Per the MCU Selection Tool the following have 14 pdip packages.
| MSP430F2001 | MSP430F2002 | MSP430F2003 | MSP430F2011 | MSP430F2012 | MSP430F201 |
But as stated above and given you're searching for a dip package you won't have a large amount of pins anyways, you are probably best suited by the ez430rf-2500 or the ez430-f2013 . Simply buying that tool gives you enough to get started and get the part programmed.
The lowest-end MSP-430 is offered in DIP format. (The F2xxx series)

There is very limited RAM (128 bytes!) on these devices, though. The Flash memory is also very limited (1K or 2K). For more RAM or FLASH, you'll need to use another format, or order one of the development kits that provide a larger chip, such as the MSP430F4618 which will drive an LCD display.
A great tool for finding a uController with the parameters you select (such as 'DIP' format) is:

Hi,
well, there's another approach to get DIP packages for your MSP430 devices! Simply use a converter PCB do do so. You can buy them off the shelf for small money (i.e for converting an SOIC28 to DIP28, 10pcs below $20); do a google search and find an (online-) shop/reseller near you.
When thinking about this solution, pls keep in mind that you must be able to solder the parts to the adapter! So the SOIC packages of the MSP430F11x2/MSP430F12x2 (http://focus.ti.com/docs/prod/folders/print/msp430f1232.html) are a good starting point because they are much more handy than parts in SSOP or TSSOP packages.

now i got another question..
do we have dip programmers for msp430??
if we are using the converter and soldering it then we cant hve a re programming right??
also, is there any software smiulaor availiable for ccs4 or we should connect the debugger externally to check for the errors and program it??
in mplab ide we have the software simulaor.. i am asking in comparison with that..
Dear Sachin,
We have a ready Board Which you can programme and use according to your needs. It uses MSP430F149 / MSP430F169 Microcontroller. It is ia multipurpose board which can be used according to your needs.

Yes. Dip compatible with other value line devices. You can find more information here:
