Program MSp430F5418 with LPT-FET

Hi,

I´m trying to program MSP430F5418 using a LPT-FET and IAR. IAR shows a Initializating Hardware message and stops. I connect TEST pin from JTAG, verified reset signal with 47Kohms pull-up and 2.2nF capacitor pull-down but notting gets work. I check VCORE voltage and it is on 1.5V. I´m using 3.3V suplly voltage. Could anyone give e a tip what could I check into my board?

I don't know where, but I read coupe weeks ago that you can't program MSP430F5xxx series with old MSP LPT Fet. I think that you should buy USB Fet or Chronos for programming MSP430F5xxx series.

All newer MSPs with 430X core have a new and incompatible JTAG protocol because of the 20 bit addressing instead of the previous 16 bit. This includes the 5xxx family.

The FET needs to support the new protocol. Maybe a firmware update of the FET is possible - ask the FET manufacturer. For many 3rd party FETs, there is none available or simply not possible (no update mechanism).
