Where to obtain the EZFET image (as on the Launchpad) to load into a MSP430F5528 and what HW cable/pod/etc is required?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430F5529, MSP430F5528, MSP430-FLASHER

We have designed a low-level heating controller PCA for a Smart Multi-element Oven (SMOVEN) based upon the TI Launchpad design. This PCA does all low level sensor and heating element control functions and we are in need of periodically updating the images. We designed the PCA with both the TI MSP430F5529 AND the MSP430F5528 HW on board (basically a Launchpad +). We have been using an external Launchpad to program the target MSP, but now want to program the EZFET processor and eliminate the external Launchpad.

I have been unable to locate the source/binary for the EZFET device on the TI website and was wondering if anyone could point me to it?

Also, if anyone is aware of a specific HW pod/cable that would expedite this effort, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

  • Hello Wayde,

The eZ-FET lite firmware can be downloaded from the following page (eZ-FET_lite_Release_Package): software-dl.ti.com/.../index_FDS.html

You can either use the included eZ-FET lite Test and Programming GUI or the firmware images along with a programmer tool such as MSP430-FLASHER or FET-Pro430 to flash the MSP430F5528 device. If choosing the latter option then please keep in mind that you will need to program the BSL (EZFET_LITE_Rev1_1_BSL_1_1.txt) before the main application (EZFET_LITE_Rev1_1_FW_3_3_0_6.txt).

There is no specific HW pod/cable available for programming the eZ-FET lite, please refer to Figure 2-1 of the MSP430 Hardware Tools User's Guide (SLAU278) to review the signal connections for 4-Wire JTAG communication.

    Regards,
    Ryan
