Good morning!
I have a capacitive sensing portable application based on MSP430FR2633, thing works great :) Power supply are batteries.
So, proximity range is less than when the application is powered by USB.
By increasing the GND plane with a metallic plate, I achieve much larger range.
But, I was wondering if it is better to increase the GND plane in terms of area (that is a long sheet of copper, for example) or it is even better to effectively increase the GND plane by means of a smaller but thicker piece of metal. I mean, what can I do if my enclosure does not allow you for a large sheet of GND?
Just being curious but your knowledge will probably save me lots of tests :)
