CCS/MSP432P401R: Erase memory when downloading with CCS

Hi All,

I have a question from the customer about Flash Memory of MSP432P401R.

Is it possible to exclude specific areas only from Erase when debug / download is done with CCS?

When I select MSP430, C2000, Tiva, I can specify the area to erase by referring to Debug Option.

However, when MSP432 was selected, it was not possible to specify a specific area with the Debug Option.

Is it impossible for MSP432 to remove only specific areas from Erase target?

Hello Takashi,

I just confirmed that this option is not available for the MSP432. Having said that, the option "Erase and download necessary segments only" might do the trick. I use this option when I have 2 or more applications running in the same device, for example: https://e2e.ti.com/support/microcontrollers/msp430/f/166/p/543089/1981969#1981969

This means that you will need to have at least 2 different linker files in order to exclude specific areas from erase when debugging using CCS. Do you think this could work for your application?
