Linux/MSP430FR2532: programming with a free tool

Tool/software: Linux

So far I have flashed many MSP430G2 MCUs using the Launchpad and "mspdebug rf2500 ..." debugging tool. Unfortunately MSP430FR2532 is not supported by mspdebug.

I have MSP-EXP430FR5739, MSP-EXP430G2 and Stellaris Launchpads available (they provide some FET and Serial port). Is there any easy way to upload firmware for MSP430FR2532 under Linux with the hardware that I have? Any example?

You might want to look at SLAA535A.pdf and the accompanying ZIP file. It uses the G2 Launchpad with a programmed MSP430G2231 (or equivalent) as the programming device, with BSL Scripter as the PC software, which I believe also runs under Linux. If you have a spare G2231, then all of that is free. It's not completely clear this will work for the FR2532, but it might be worth a try.

our recommendation would be, in case you want to save as much money as possible, but still have a useful setup, to go in terms of HW with the MSP430 CapTIvate MCU Programmer www.ti.com/.../captivate-pgmr
The CapTIvate Design Center GUI www.ti.com/.../mspcaptdsnctr is available for free, and supports also Linux.
When executing the Linux installation for the CAPTIVATE-PGMR, please follw the steps described here
