MSP430F5529 REV I USB BSL not work

In Erratasheet "http://www.ti.com/lit/er/slaz314i/slaz314i.pdf" this should be error BSL6, i think.

any ideas?

Please note that Rev. I devices have an erratum called BSL12 that does not affect earlier revisions. Please see www.ti.com/lit/pdf/slaz314 p. 5 where BSL12 is described. You can see from the erratasheet table that this erratum is only affecting the BSL that comes pre-programmed in Rev. I devices. From the workaround suggestion, it says that we have released a fixed BSL image which can be downloaded as part of the SLAA450 zip file download here: http://software-dl.ti.com/msp430/msp430_public_sw/mcu/msp430/CustomBSL/latest/index_FDS.html

Inside the zip file go to 5xx_6xx_Released_BSL_Images/MSP430F552x_550x_Family/USB BSL. The file BSL.00.07.88.38.txt contains the image of the fixed BSL - you can load this image using the FET tool for JTAG/SBW programming and using the MSP430Flasher or Elprotronic FetPro430 Lite software. The corresponding RAM BSL image that should be used with this version of the USB BSL is also included in the same folder.

I use the method you are mentioned above, but the BSL.00.07.88.38 is still not work. I get same error like above.

Then I tryed to read out a BSL image from a msp430f5529 REV E device and put it in a REV I device. It works! I get the REV number from BSL_USB_GUI tool, that is BSL.00.06.05.34.

Now I have a new question:

can i use this BSL for a REV I device? I just test the USB BSL for REV I device, but i don't know if this image side effect to UART BSL ...?

I'm a little unsure about your question here - is your final goal to use the USB BSL or the UART BSL on your MSP430F5529 device? The BSL12 erratum only affects the USB BSL, not the UART BSL. Please also note that you will need a different tool to communicate with the UART BSL from the PC if that is your goal.

In addition, which USB BSL GUI are you using? Which version of the USB GUI software are you using - have you ensured that it is the latest one? I'd like to try to reproduce your problem.

Hi Katie,

sorry my quistion ist not clear. We use USB BSL for download, what i mean is not only the problem about UART BSL but also all side effects, which may be caused by using BSL.00.06.05.34. Because i did not find any release note for BSLs.

We use MSP430_USB_Firmware_Upgrade_Example-1.3.0 and also the older one V1.1.4 worked too. The Python tools did not work for me.
