MSP430: Error initializing emulator: No USB FET was found

I am following the student workshop and I am getting the following error when I try and debug.

"MSP430: Error initializing emulator: No USB FET was found".

I have looked in the device manager and there are no com port detected for the MSP-EXP430F5529LP launchpad that I am using.

I have no clue what can be wrong. I uninstall drivers and try different usb ports but nothin so far has worked.

Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Hi,

Which IDE your using ( CCS or IAR) ?

did you try updating firmware of that Launch pad Emulation part. try looking at below link >> Resources >>MSP-EXP430F5529 Installation Guide!

I actually got it working. I was able to upgrade the firmware using energia which allowed the VCPs to appear in device manager. Code Composer was still not seeing my board though. So i did a fresh install of CCS and everything started working fine.
