Connection among VDSYS and DVSYS (MSP430F6723)

In my project I will use only one source of 3,3V driving DVCC, AUXVCC1 and AUXVCC2, and I will use AUXVCC3 to drive a supercap for subsystem.

My question is: Could I connect DVSYS directly in 3,3v to increase the source current of I/O pins?

  • If the 3.3V is your only source, connect AUXVCC1 and AUXVCC2 to GND. Only connect them to anything else if it is an independent power source.
    The current limit of an individual I/O pin depends only on its supply voltage. However, the supply switching limits the total current that can be drawn from any source.
    Honestly, I don't know what happens if you short DVCC to DVSYS. It might increase the total high current to match the limitations for the total low current. Or it may cause the supply switching mechanism to go crazy. I'm not sure whether anyone has ever tried this. So all you can do is try it yourself. Or pick a device without AUX module, if you don't need it.
