Programming without debugging?

I am using the latest CCS IDE which they say is eclipse based.

Is there a simple button or menu item by which I can just download program to the MCU without getting into debug mode?

Hi Steve!

I'm not aware of a function to just flash the code without starting a debug session. You could, of course, start a session and press on stop instead of play, but this might not be what you are looking for. You should think about one of the various flash programmers like FET-Pro-430 from Elpotronic, for example.

Yea, I am looking for exactly what you think.

In other IDE's (such as MxLABx, Kxil, AxR Sxudio), they provide such button. Since I am new to this Environment, I expected the same functionality.

Sorry to say that it's a little disappointing..

I agree. On the other hand, starting such a huge software package only to flash the device is a bit weird, too, what do you think? The flash programmers are tiny programs for only doing this one thing.

Yes, I know.

However, sometimes all I want to do is quickly make a simple change on the firmware and download to see if it works.

Setting up the flash programmer for each quick change is little too cumbersome.

Yeah, then you might have to press debug and stop ;\
