Tool/software: Code Composer Studio
I have three debuggers (MSP-FET), two of which are the new version (SN 18XXXXX) and one is the old version (SN 16XXXXX). I am using CCS v7.2. I am trying to program the MSP430 Development board MSP-TS430RHA40A using both programmers but only the OLD version is working. I've tried both new debuggers on two different computers and I simply cannot get the new version of MSP-FET to work correctly. Here's the error I get with the new version: Error connecting to the target: Unknown device.
Hi Russell,
I ran the same tests that you are running and I have confirmed your result. The latest MSP-FET has a connection issue with the MSP430FR5739 device in SBW mode. We are investigating root cause for the connection issue now. I was able to connect successfully with the latest MSP-FET using 4-wire JTAG mode. You can select 4-wire JTAG mode by moving the relevant jumpers from the SBW position to the 4-wire JTAG position on the target board.
I'll keep you up to date as we dig into the root cause. I also confirmed that the MSP-FET works in SBW mode with other FRAM devices (e.g. the MSP430FR2433), so the issue at the moment seems to be SBW mode with the MSP430FR57xx family.
Regards,
Walter
