MSP432E401Y: PTP IEEE 1588 stack support

Part Number: MSP432E401Y

Hi,

I am currently evaluating MSP432E401 for an Ethernet application and I am trying to use PTP V2 protocol (IEEE 1588).

I saw that the integration of the PTP in SDK is currently in progress, do you have any idea about its publication date ?

As far as I understand there is a hardware support to provide accurate timestamping but the management of the packet's protocol should be done by software is that correct ?

Thanks,

Benoît

  • Hello Benoit,

Your understanding is correct. The hardware support to accurately timestamp the packets is present in the MSP432E4. Software support is required to manage the ptpd handshake and to sync the time with the PTP master.

The Software integration of PTP has been pushed back and I don't have a specific time for when it will be released.

    Thanks,
    Sai
