My customer found the following app note that describes using the MPS430 to create a UART to SPI master bridge.

Can our MSP430 do a UART to SPI slave?

Do we have a similar app note describing this function?

Hi Peter,

It can be done for the SPI slave. You should port the code of this app note to reconfigure the SPI to slave mode. It could be easily to implemented.

Do we have instructions on how to reconfigure the SPI to slave mode?

I know this will be my customer's first response when I tell them it can be done.

Hi Peter,

You could refer the code example for SPI slave configuration. The FR2111 has code example for SPI slave. Please remember to port the code to FR2000, which should be very easy.

Hi Kelvin,

For the bridge in: www.ti.com/.../slaa796.pdf
It only support half-duplex. You may need to modify the SPI configuration as well as the software UART interface firmware to support full-duplex. Additional GPIO may be used.

Table 1 of the doc lists the maximum rates supported by both interfaces.
