MSP430AFE253: SD24

Part Number: MSP430AFE253

Dear Sir:

Customer said AFE253 precision of SD24 from the perspective of register reading is only 16bit, and the differential input voltage range is in the plus or minus 500 mV.

Customer want to confirm if the triangle integral modulus (A/D) converter is linear, which will affect the calculation method of voltage.

Can you give me some suggestion?

Thank you very much.

  • Hi,

The resolution of SD24 is 24 bits, but the SD24MEMx register will only hold either the upper or lower 16 bits of the digital filter output. This is dependent on the SD24LSBACC bit. Please see the User's Guide for more details.

The differential input voltage range is +/-500 mB for a gain of 1. This will change depending on the gain that is used.

The sigma delta ADC will be fairly linear, so the voltage range and resolution can be used to interpret the digital interpretation of the signal. Please see the User's Guide and datasheet for more details.

    Regards,
    Nathan
