MSP432E401Y: Setting Up Webpage

Part Number: MSP432E401Y

Hi team,

Do we have any examples of the MSP432E401Y setting up a webpage?

Regards.

Akash

  • Hello Akash,

We currently have two examples based on lwIP in the folder: ./examples/nortos/MSP_EXP432E401Y/lwip. The examples are called "ethernet_with_lwip" and "ethernet-based_io_control".

We are working on adding an HTTP server for NDK on top of Network Services.

    Thanks,
    Sai
  • Hi Sai,

Thank you for pointing us to some examples. How can we modify the webpage that is loaded? Where is that file in CCS? Is there any documentation on this?

    Regards,
    Akash Patel
  • Hello Akash,

We are currently not providing the source of the webpage in the SDK. I will file a request to add the webpage files (HTML, Javascript and CSS ) to the examples in the SDK. I will try to get this into the upcoming release.

Once the webpage files are available, they can be modified. Then "io_fsdata.h" file should be generated by following the steps in the Readme of the example.

Can the customer wait till the upcoming release (end of September)?

    Thanks,
    Sai
  • Hi Sai,

Thank you for confirming. In the README, I see that it says "Source files for the internal file system image can be found in the ``fs’’ directory." Is this directory currently available? I assume this is where the webpage files that you mentioned would reside. What other files would be in this directory?

    Regards,
    Akash
  • Akash,

Yes, the "fs" directory is missing in the examples. That directory will have all the files needed to build the webserver (HTML, Javascript, CSS and images).

    Thanks,
    Sai
  • Hi Sai,

Thanks for the additional information. Is this something that we can definitely expect in the next release (in about a month) or it is just there for consideration? We would be interested in having this as soon as possible.

    Regards,
    Akash
  • Akash,

We are working to add these files to the upcoming release.

    Thanks,
    Sai
  • I am also looking forward to having the HTTP Server in the SDK. When is the next release? Thanks.

  • Hello Jim,

I am not sure what you are looking for in the future releases of the SDK. From my responses above we are working on:

    • Adding the source of the webpages to lwIP based examples. As a background HTTP Server is already supported by lwIP, but in the examples we are currently not providing the source of the webpages. This is being planned for the upcoming release, by end of September.
    • Adding HTTP Server support to NDK. The release date is still not finalized.

    Thanks,

    Sai

  • Yes, I am looking forward to "HTTP Server support to NDK" for the MSP432E4. I do have a TM4C129X_TI dev board that has the NDK HTTP support but it seems like TI might be replacing the Tiva with the MSP432E4? We want to develop for whichever processor is going to be supported longer.

  • Hello Jim,

Concern about phasing out TM4C devices is a different topic, not related to what we are discussing on this thread.

There are multiple post addressing this concern, as an example look at this post: e2e.ti.com/.../663912

If you have more question on this topic, please start a separate thread.

    Thanks,
    Sai
  • Oops. Sorry for messing up the thread but thanks for the link. I'm still looking forward to more web server NDK software support in the MSP432E4.
  • Jim,

We are working on adding a HTTP Server component to the Network Services layer, similar to the HTTP Client that we have today.

Unfortunately I don't have a date that I can post here. All I can say is it won't be available in the upcoming release (end of September).

I might have a better idea towards end of November if it will make into the December release.

    Thanks,
    Sai
