EVM430-F6736: AC Power connection setup on EVM430-F6736 development board

Part Number: EVM430-F6736

Hi All,

I am using EVm430F6736 energy meter. Already I read the user guide of this development board.Still I have some confusion. I want to measure the current for both phase and neutral wire (230V AC power supply). How to connect the neutral wire and phase wire to the EVM development Board for current measurement?. Inbuild of this develpment board, It have Current transformer current rating as 2.5mA. when I drawn the load current as 15A, it will affect the current transformer or not? How to do the connection with development Board to measure both neutral and phase current?

  • Hello,

You can find the connections in Figure 13 of the EVM430-F6736 user's guide. Since you may not have a test source that can supply voltage and current independently, you'll need to connect V+ (can use a small wire) and I+ (use a larger wire to handle expected load current) to Line. Connect your load between I- and Neutral using larger wires to conduct the load current. Then, connect V- to Neutral (can use a small wire here too).

These connections are illustrated in Figure 2.

Last but not least, I would recommend using the Energy Measurement Design Center and software library for your design.

    Regards,

    James
