I'm new to programming and would like to know how to program multiple CC430F5137 microcontrollers in order to place on my PCBs. I understand, for example, with the MSP430G2553, you can just program it using the development board and switch out the microcontrollers because of the pins. Is there a similar way to program multiple surface mount devices like the CC430F5137 with the same code? If not, is there a way I can upload the code and order the microcontrollers already programmed with my code?

There are companies that make sockets for programming SMD devices. You would need one of these and wire it up to a programming pod (such as MSP-FET430 or MSP-GANG).

There are distributors (and others) that do provide part programming as "Value-add" services, but these typically have minimum buy quantities that is not conducive to small volume.

I found sockets for surface mount chips expensive and problematic. I usually incorporate JTAG, SBW, or BSL signals as “TEST POINTS” on my PCB.
