Hello,

I have a problem with shaking comunication with MSP430. When we tried to write the firmware it does not connect. We have a programmer with version 1.6.0.1000. With the 46c4xkwg4 M430F427 REV I works. But our last PCB production came with 53c0z8wg4 M430F427A REV B and it doesn't work.

    Since the F427A is a different device than the F427, the device variant must be updated in the project properties. If this has already been done then the error lies elsewhere. Could you provide more information on the error you are seeing? Screenshots of the error would be very helpful to determine the solution.

    Martin,

    Which application do you recommend to download the firmware bootloader for the F427A. With the F427 we use 1.6.0.1000 MspFet. Please find image attached 

    Do you have a specific programmer and application for firmware download? We use the parallel port with JTAG connector to download the firmware in XP windows.

    Hello Solange,

    I've honestly never heard of the firmware loader you are referring to, can you please send me a link of where I can find more information/download it? Your screenshot seems to indicate that the MspFet 1.6 is copyright 2005, if this software has not been updated since 2008 then it will be incapable of programming the F427A which was released that year.

    The MSP-FET430PIF device is NRND (Not Recommended for New Designs) and I really would recommend switching to the newer MSP-FET. You should also switch to a more common IDE such as Code Composer Studio, IAR, or FET-Pro430. To the best of my knowledge these tools still carry Windows XP support.
