MSP430: Error initializing emulator: No USB FET was found

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430G2553

Hi ,

i am getting MSP430: Error initializing emulator: No USB FET was found error while using CCS v6.

My launch pad is not detecting in my window 7 laptop. I need any drivers for this ?

My ccs version  is  Version: 6.0.0.00190  and i am using msp430G2553 device.

Please give a solution for this problem.

  • You need a specific driver for the emulator on the launchpad to be recognized as such, I think it's in the USB Developers Package or the MSP Debug Stack

Else the COM port which has the FET attached will install using a generic serial port driver, which CCS does not recognize as FET, at leasts that's what I've experienced before using a launchpad.

If your device manager under 'Ports (COM & LPT)' does not show a "MSP Debug Interface (COMx)' but a generic (USB) serial port, you need to uninstall and/or update the driver.

    EDIT: I found the driver

  • Thanks Pim Velders. I installed the drivers as you mentioned . But still my laptop can't able to recognize the launchpad. I think i am doing some mistakes. Please help me for this.. I am still trying to come out from this issue..
