EVM430-FR6043: No signal detected in up and downstream channel

Part Number: EVM430-FR6043

Hi Experts,

Currently i am working for ultrasonic flow meter design but i getting the following error

04/05 01:27 PM Algorithm 126 No signal detected in up and downstream channel

i just follow this below link but i don't get any positive result

  • Hello Surya,

Do you have water in the pipe?  The transducers must be completely soaked to get a good signal.

  • Hi

thanks for the reply, yes the pipe have a continuous water circulation with the help of the 0.5hp motor and the above images shown the pipe and motor connection, i am sure the transducer completely soaked that's why we are increase the pipe height to IN/OUT

i have shared my ADC capture and waveform with and without water flow in the pipe and my pipe setup hold a water to avoid half flow error.

Sorry i can't attached the reference image, i think my account have a issue, kindly let me know how to forward the image to you

  • Hi @Eddie LaCost,

i have attached my updated settings and waveforms for your reference, here i have a doubt as per the datasheet the ADC capture waveform floating 1000 to -1000 but my ADC Capture waveform just float to 300, kindly check my waveforms and settings then help me to solve this problem,

if i increase the gain >12db the ADC Capture waveform floated 1000, i have attached two ADC capture image for with flow and without flow

  • Hi Surya,

Can you try rotating your meter so that the transducers are underneath the pipe and send an ADC capture of without flow for this case? We typically test pipes in a vertical configuration to avoid gas build up around the transducers.

    Leo

  • Hi

Thanks for the reply, i have modified the setup and i have shared the ADC capture image with and without flow for your reference kindly check and help to solve the issue

  • Hi Surya,

The ADC captures appear normal in both cases now - what is the specific issue you are seeing?

    Leo

  • Hi

Thanks for the response, i have some doubts kindly help to resolve my doubts,

Is this ADC is normal, how can i find the current flow rate and total flow, and how can i reset the Mean, Min,Max value from the Waveform column,

If i find the current flow and total flow what is the next step to show the reading in LCD,

The external power supply is needed for upload the program through CCS or not

    regards

  • Hi Surya,

You need to calibrate your meter against a reference meter. You can find more detailed information on the complete design and testing process here:

  • Hi

Thanks for the reply, i have some doubts kindly guide me to clear this,

    1. i have checked the volume flow from the waveform column that shows the current flow rate with time, my real flow rate is 1liter per 2.2sec but the volume flow rate shows 1liter per 5 or 6 sec, here how can i recalibrate the flow

2.i have checked with the calibration column and i entered 1636 for liter per hour(1 liter per 2.2sec) then click calibration but it does not change the volume flow kindly guide me to achieve my expected flow rate,

    3. If i find the current flow and total flow what is the next step to show the reading in LCD,

    4. The external power supply is needed for upload the program through CCS or not

    regards

    surya

  • Hi Surya,

    1. There is a document in the Resources section of the link I provided that describes the calibration procedure in detail.

    2. Before calibrating over temperature and flows, you should simply adjust the meter constant to give you the right flow. For example, if you're meter constant is 1 and your real flow rate is twice of what is being reported, you would simply change this constant to 2.

    3. The project needs to be recompile with the ENABLE_LCD #define enabled.

    4. The external power supply is not required to program the board. The switch on the board need to be switched for USB power if you are not using external power.

    Leo
