Hi,

I know it's been asked before. I'm getting "error connecting to target. Frequency is out of range" on Lab 2 , the one that blinds the led. This is the first I tried to communicate with the Tiva using Code Composer Studio 5.5.0)

The program that can loaded to the Tiva works fine. I can communicate with Hyper Terminal to Tiva. So, i know the usb driver is working.

Any help would be great.

Hi Daniel,

What was the last program you loaded to your launchpad? From the history of posts before, the "frequency out of range" error is usually caused by the JTAG being locked. See, post below.

the target board is brand new. the program running is factory installed. it changes the color of the rbg led on the board. u sent commands with hyper terminal to change the intensity of leds and stuff. i am new to launchpad. i've used arduino in the past.

Hi Daniel,

Just because the usual cause of "frequency out of range" failure, is due to the JTAG being locked, try the LM Flash Programmer Debug Port Unlock Utility. Select TM4C123 Class.

If you have succesfully unlocked your board, load any working example program to your Launchpad. If there are no more errors, you have already recovered your launchpad from a JTAG locked state.

I did want u said and still have the same problem. i have another clue. i m getting the error message when i try to update ICDI firmware "**ERROR**:ICDI Driver not installed. I think neither LM Flash programmer or CCS is linked up with the driver on COM9. This is a new install. I thought i followed all the steps in the tutorial. btw Energia doesn't work either.

Hi,

My help ends here. There has been a lot of ICDI related problems lately in the forum. This should be addressed by a TI Engineer. Just wait for them to reply.

I did end up figuring this out. the tutorial is terrible when it comes to installing drivers. there is 3 different drivers a virtual serial port, and 2 ICDI drivers. the answer for the ICDI drivers is here http://www.ti.com/lit/ml/spmu287c/spmu287c.pdf , http://www.ti.com/tool/stellaris_icdi_drivers . I hope this helps someone. One would think TI would make a good step by step tutorial for casual hackers like me to get going. I imagine from all the ICDI problems they would get the hint that help is needed. The answers are out there but they are all over the place and not linked together.
