Tivaware 2.1.3 USB drivers

For some time I have been following threads on this forum discussing the Tivaware USB driver problems on Win10.

Some days ago I received a mail from TI:

I have downloaded the new 2.1.3 Tivaware, with the new "signed" USB drivers.

When I try to install the drivers on a Win10 machine i get the following message:

When I turn off Win10 driver signature validation (by restarting in signature enforcement disabled mode), I can install the driver, but Windows warns me that the driver comes from an unknown source and is not secure.

Have any of you had success with the new USB drivers on Windows 10?

I appriciate any help with this.

The drivers have been tested on a Windows 10 virtual machine and the driver works as expected. If you double click or open the cat file does it show that it is a valid cat file?

Thanks for your prompt response!

I have tested with the DFU driver. I assume that the corresponding .cat file is: TivaWare_C_Series-2.1.3.156\windows_drivers\boot_usb.cat

When I double click the file I get:

The text is in Danish, but it basically says that both the "catalog" and the "signature" is OK.

If this is something new, I wonder why the time of the signature is January 19th 2016?

Hello Christian,

The driver signature is OK and valid. It seems that Win10 is taking the day of signature instead of the effective date. This is the cause of the issue you may be facing. The cut off date is 31 Dec 2015. After that date all MS drivers need to have a double hashed signature as per MS policy.

Let me check with our teams as to if this change is on the effective date or signature date.

Hello evryone

By disabling Win8.1 driver signature validation I was able to install the drivers and the code runs well. But Is there any problem or risk of doing that???.

Hello Josue,

Driver signature validation allows for authenticated drivers to get installed. Once installed you can try switching it back ON.

Thanks for your continued support on this. I am still very interested in a solution.

We use the USB DFU driver and the USB virtual serial port driver. I will definitely be interested in testing the updated files you have.

The new drivers are being made available as part of the next TivaWare release. It seemed that some of the Windows machines did not like dual dates on the timestamp. As a result we had to change the signature step with a new license file.

Which specific driver? If it is the ICDI and COM drivers then they have already been updated on www.ti.com

But if it is the usb_bulk_device or dfu, then as I mentioned earlier, it will come with the next TivaWare release which is expected 1Q'17. We may still be able to handle case-by-case work stoppers though, if you could contact your local FAE.

How about just resigning the current bulk driver without any functional modification so it can be used on Win10.

Once TivaWare change the bulk driver in a new release, then it will force EVMs that use it to be reworked and re-tested, adding to the delay in getting EVMs operational.

We do have pre-release drivers, which may be released if required. However since they would be outside the scope of the TivaWare delivery I will put 99% confidence on the fact that they may still show an issue.

Hi Amit,

I saw that the TivaWare drivers were updated over the weekend, with corrected USB driver signatures. However after downloading them I noticed that the driver certificate is still invalid. Apparently the certificate has already expired, as shown below:

Would it be possible to fix this? Might there be more recent drivers that were not included in the installer?

I am currently using the TvaWare_C_Series-2.1.4.178 version but I am still facing the hash file missing from cat issue. Have the issue been patched in this version?
