Application Note Release: Using TM4C12x Devices Over JTAG Interface

Greetings Amit,

Overall good - yet may these 3 suggestions (even) improve:

• i-jet's inclusion over the FAR more popular J-Link (for IAR) seems "unusual."
• as so many here suffer from "Lockout" might "recovery" receive greater highlight & instruction - especially "Lockout avoidance" tactics!
• and always - external, properly sized pull-up resistors should be employed - NOT the far too high valued internal (MCU) ones.

Thanks a lot:
1. We have access to J-Link probes only. I will see if I can add i-Jet in the next revision of the document
2. Section 5.1 and 5.2 warn users on Lockout.... May be a strong Caution/Note would make the highlight....

That's bit unclear - my read/review of your neat App Note revealed i-Jet ONLY - not the (FAR) more popular J-Link.

J-Link - I believe - should be included w/in your note.

And again - as JTAG Lockout occurs so often here - STRONG Warnings/CAUTIONS against all "Usual Suspect" causes - should receive EARLY and REPEATED (i.e. well highlighted) emphasis...   (failing to properly highlight is like driving a winding mountain trail - w/guard-rails removed!)

That was a typo "Friday factor". I meant

We have access to i-Jet probes only. I will see if I can add J-Link (provided I can trace one of those probes locally) in the next revision of the document

Recall that Segger offers J-Link probes (which manage both JTAG & SWD) at GREAT, Educational discount - even to (and especially to) Non-Students! J-Link is the pre-dominant JTAG probe - to firm's & my mind - far outperforms the (lesser) probes - which may just ADD to the dreaded JTAG-Lockout - again so often (surely every 2-3 days) reported here!
