EK-TM4C1294XL: CC3100 Warning for PIN 73 (CC_WL_UART_TX) and PIN 74 (CC_NWP_UART_TX)

Part Number: EK-TM4C1294XL
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC3100

Hi,

I'm running the configuration shown in the screenshot below:

Unfortunately, there are warnings about PIN 73 and 74 as shown below:

What functionality will I lose based on these warnings?

Thanks in advance for  your help!

Cheers,

Tim

  • Tim,

If you use those pins, you will lose the ability to use UART on those two pins. One of the pins, CC_NWP_UART_TX is used for the Network Processor to send debug prints, if needed. This is needed if you run into strange errors in your software and you believe the Network Processor isn't behaving correctly, you can get logs from this and send to a TI engineer.

It's not critical for your application, but something to note.

  • Hi Tim,

I have some trouble understanding the warning. I'm not familiar with the CC3100 product. You might want to post your question to the SimpleLink forum to understand why the warning. When I run the compatibility check I also see the same warning. See below. The pin 33, 34 corresponds to the the PL0 and PL1 pins of the TM4C129. The PL0 and PL1 pins have no functionality to support UART.

Looking at the CC3100 bootster pack user's guide the corresponding two pins are marked as NWP_LOG_TX and WLAN_LOG_TX.

So I don't really understand why compatibility check says it is for UART_TX. I think it will be best for you to post the question in SimpleLink forum as their experts will be better to assist you. .
