DRV10987: Behavior when GND is open

Hi team,

If VCC and Speed input are turned on while GND is open, how is the IC expected to behave?

Is there a possibility that it will lead to failure?

Also, what happens if the GND is opened while the motor is driving?

    Hi Akihiro,

    The device will not operate if ground is left floating as this would be an open circuit. Removing the ground connection while the motor is driving could cause a BEMF and damage your device. Current could flow through the MOSFET body diodes back into the power supply which would damage the IC.

    What reason did you want to open GND while the motor is operating?
