Can anyone recommend a test socket for this device? Tks

  • Sorry for the delay, it took some time to run this down.

In our lab we use a socket from Contech Solutions (http://www.contechsolutions.com/sockets.html), part number OTS-28-0.65-01-00.

Note that when the device is in a socket there is no thermal connection to the power pad, so thermal dissipation is very limited.  I would anticipate driving more than 100mA or so for any length of time will result in overtemperature shutdown,

  • Thanks Pete,

I have contacted the socket company. I understand about the heat concerns.  I am driving stepping motors that require about 400 ma at 5-volts, so depending on efficiency the devices could get warm. Depending on the construction of the socket, maybe I can find a way to get some heat out of it, even if it's through the top of the part.

I will also try to get one of TI's evaluation boards for this part. I don't need a populated board, just access to the pins.

    Regards,
