DRV8305: Using DRV83055PHPR instead of DRV8305NPHPR in a circuit.

Part Number: DRV8305

Hello Guys,

Good day.

Customer need DRV8305NPHPR in their system but it is currently out of stock. Can they use DRV83055PHPR and DRV83053PHPR as a replacement?

Do they need to perform modifications in order to do so?

Thanks and regards,

Art

  • Hi Art,

The VREF/VREG pin will now be outputting 3.3V or 5.0V rather than using it as an input. the VREF is set to this 3.3V or 5.0V.

If the customer can disconnect the VREF/VREG, it will work.

    Thanks,

    Matt

  • Hello Matt,

    Good day.

The 8305N variant is a vin refernce. If they use 83055 or 83053 instead, the same pin is an output pin. even if they disconnect the pin, wouldnt Vin ref pin of 8305N be needed as a reference signal?

    Thanks to confirm.

  • Hi Art,

The VREF reference for the DRV8305 is set to the voltage present on that output (3.3V for DRV83053 and 5.0V for DRV83055).

I don't know how the customer has routed the VREF net in their system. If they want to use the VREG output as the VREF input for their MCU, that is OK. However they need to remove the power supply generating the VREF voltage so it does not compete with the DRV83053 or DRV83055.

    Thanks,

    Matt
