DRV8340-Q1: EN tied to VCC

Part Number: DRV8340-Q1

Hello Team,

I see that all faults can be cleared via the CLR register, is there any reason to not tie EN direcly to VCC?
E.g. any function or setting which will require a EN latch?

Thanks,
Matthias

  • Hi Matthias,

The ENABLE pin is only rated to 5.75V, so you can't tie it directly to system supply. As long as you are pulling ENABLE up to some external supply or resistor & zener, the part will always be ON when the power is applied.

If you have SPI control, you can clear registers that way or perform a power cycle to reset any latching fault conditions.

    Thanks,

    Matt
